1.) Do not overload receptacles or outlet strips.
2.) Install child-proof outlet covers on unused receptacles
3.) Place dangerous appliances out of reach of small children.
4.) Check all receptacles and switches for warm or discolored wall plates. Check for crackling, sizzling or
buzzing sounds or an odor of burning. Call electrician to replace immediately.
5.) Check for any power cords that are cracked, frayed, pinched or otherwise damaged. Replace immediately.
6.) Do not route power cords under carpet or rugs. Do not attach power cords with
staples or nails. Do not wrap up excess power cord when in use.
7.) Keep portable space heaters at least three feet away from any combustible
materials such as curtains, bedding and newspapers.
